blogdown

Melina Vidoni (@melvidoni; 3/0): Because @lacion strongly suggested it (and she always give amazing advice), here I am trying to make a personal resume with #blogdown in #rstudio. Let’s see how this goes!

Ariel Muldoon (@aosmith16; 3/0): I got an “I enjoy your blog” email this morning. ☺️ What a nice way to start to the day! All made possible by #blogdown

bookdown

Sadettin Demirel (@demirelsadettin; 24/4): R öğrenmeye yeni başlayanlar @NewsLabTurkey ‘deki yazılarım dışında akademisyen @emretoros tarafından hazırlanan “Sosyal Bilimler Araştırmaları İçin R” kitabına göz atabilir: https://t.co/wZc2eZ71xf Kitap literatürdeki önemli bir boşluğu dolduruyor #rstat #ddj #verigazeteciliği https://t.co/iclJSHZVLC

Sam Parsons (@Sam_D_Parsons; 9/0): a big part of the splithalf package update is complete. Now heading into writing the documentation with bookdown like https://t.co/exsZC5KL3J

Richard D. Morey (@richarddmorey; 8/3): In RStudio preview 1.2, you can create PowerPoint slide decks from Rmarkdown. This will be useful for those of us who collaborate with Word/PP users…https://t.co/f7LkV1JzTO

Shawn Graham (@electricarchaeo; 2/0): oh this is fun. have to upgrade mactex to make bookdown work again in order to update odate….

Luke Zappia (@lazappi; 1/0): @hdashnow I’m going to use Bookdown, which is essentially RMarkdown https://t.co/Ooer3qC5ga. There is a kind of template here https://t.co/Hg7IRIM9Jc but I modified it a bit already.

Matej Lexa (@matej_lexa; 1/0): Reading right now: R Markdown: The Definitive Guide https://t.co/USiVxAeMOW

Dudi Fried (@FriedDudi; 0/0): “לוחש למניות”. ספר ההדרכה שהפך המונים לכרישי מסחר מתרוקן מהמדפים! https://t.co/lSmWRA0FV6

David John Baker (@DavidJohnBaker; 0/0): @micahgallen I’ve slowly been developing a bookdown that teaches stats and R based of the grad stats course at @lsu , but it’s had to take a back seat bc of dissertation writing…

knitr

Emily Robinson (@robinson_es; 60/18): .@chendaniely showing off how to structure your data science project:
🗂 use rstudio projects
➗ divide scripts into folders
📑 split a long script into separate scripts in a sub folder
📖 use knitr (with help from here pkg) to bring it all together
#rstatsdc #rstats https://t.co/rHbYTgjrGQ

Emily Robinson (@robinson_es; 17/4): Want to change where your knitr output goes? Use the argument output_dir. Helpful when you’ve carefully structured your data science project (which you should!) and split the code and output into different folders - @chendaniely #rstatsdc #rstats https://t.co/kojsN9Y80d

AuthorCarpentry (@AuthorCarpentry; 6/2): @malco_barrett @lingtax Sounds great! @AuthorCarpentry’ reproducible reporting curric teaches this workflow along w/ citr + zotero to cite as you write (no export to bibtex ahead of time). Also love the write_bib function in knitr to auto-create a .bib citing all R packages used. #software-citation

Ruben C. Arslan (@rubenarslan; 1/0): @simongrund89 https://t.co/of1Lgszn5P

Matthew Leonawicz (@leonawicz; 1/0): @xieyihui @rstudio Not sure if my suggestion is that helpful, but hopefully. The reason I chose this workshop is because while I have used rmarkdown (and knitr) a million times, I still feel like I’ve only scratched the surface, tending to use what feels like only a fraction of what it has to offer

Malcolm Barrett 🦃+👨‍🎤 (@malco_barrett; 0/0): @AuthorCarpentry @lingtax Ooo didn’t know about write_bib()! knitr has so many good functions hidden in it…

What’s the strategy for using citr+ zotero without needing to export??

Simon Grund (@simongrund89; 0/0): @rubenarslan Thanks, I do know about knitr and use it a lot (for animations, too). It just isn’t an option this time, so this has to be low-tech 🙂

xaringan

We are R-Ladies (@WeAreRLadies; 83/26): Thinking about doing a {ggplot2} #dataviz workshop for your local #rstats meetup group, co-workers, dodgeball team?

GO FOR IT! 🤾🏻‍♀️⛹🏿‍♀️

We are R-Ladies (@WeAreRLadies; 60/12): Confession: sometimes I need to settle on my fonts, #xaringan css, and {ggplot2} color theme before starting a new #rstats project. It soothes me 👩🏽‍🎨

Any other #RLadies do this?

Danielle Navarro (@djnavarro; 24/0): These slides on ggplot by @jent103 are fantastic 😍 (and are a great reminder that I really need to learn xaringan) https://t.co/gUldQS99fc

Jennifer Thompson (@jent103; 7/0): @apreshill I voted xaringan. :) More broadly, I think some info on “how to make [thing] look like you want without being a web dev” would be helpful. Like, I <3 flexdashboard but can’t figure out how to flexibly specify reasonable dimensions for valueBoxes, etc. (can send you examples!)

Jennifer Thompson (@jent103; 4/0): @apreshill @djnavarro Thank you @djnavarro! I took a bit to drink the xaringan Kool-Aid but for teaching R or communicating results reproducibly I am ALL IN.

And @grrrck’s {xaringanthemer} is a huge help for those of us with OPINIONS on color palettes!

かつどん (@nozma; 2/0): xaringan、文字編集するとスライドの文字もすぐ変更されてすごいなと考えかけたところでPowerPointさんのことをふと思い出した

Ghislain Nono Gueye (@GueyeNono; 1/0): @apreshill @rstudio @xieyihui I picked #xaringan because I feel like this is one of the packages with no consolidated materials.

Xavier (@xvrdm; 1/0): @WeAreRLadies @jent103 @grrrck @github Hi 👋 there , maybe you will find this xaringan interesting too (although the {gganimate} part needs an update): https://t.co/uF7BAfeedY
