knitr

Jeff Stevens (@jeffreyrstevens.com; 2/1/1; 2025-04-02): Yihui developed knitr, tinytex, xaringan, and many other R packages while a developer at @posit.co. Yihui embodies the classic xkcd cartoon on Dependency–a Nebraskan maintaining critical R packages that most of us use. Attend his talk to thank him for all of his hard work! (2/2)

Randy Boyes (@randy.pub; 2/0/1; 2025-03-31): I typically do this with a loop and knitr::knit_child - all of my examples are code I can’t share but I can write an example if you need/want more detail

Gabe The Engineer (@gdbassett.bsky.social; 1/0/0; 2025-04-02): Could a hook to pandoc work? Knowing knitr uses pandoc for markdown to PDF hopefully it’s already integrated.

Mickaël CANOUIL, Ph.D. (@mickael.canouil.fr; 1/1/0; 2025-04-01): You can also use knitr as the engine and use JuliaCall to work the other way around.

Mickaël CANOUIL, Ph.D. (@mickael.canouil.fr; 1/2/1; 2025-04-01): There can be only one engine: knitr/jupyter/julia.

But there can be multiple languages. For those to work they did to be handled by the engine you choose (that’s independent of Quarto).
So with Julia engine, to call R code you need something like RCall.

Andrew Heiss (@andrew.heiss.phd; 72/5/13; 2025-03-28): Helpful trick for academic writing with #QuartoPub: sometimes when trimming down papers, you’ve got to remove references (ugh—bibliographies shouldn’t count in word counts!) so I use this #rstats snippet to extract all citations & and find things that I’ve only used once to see if they’re droppable
