who let the duck in (@technoduck.me; 1/0/0; 2026-05-02): fun fact, the main and most popular package to convert R Markdown files into html and pdf in RStudio is called “knitr” and the it knits the files. its a bigass “knit” button. fully a coincidence and unrelated to tangled but nevertheless. fun fact. ↪
Yihui Xie (@yihui.org; 1/0/1; 2026-04-27): Yes, I think so. I guess PNG is more widely known than WebP, though.
BTW, WebP just gained support in knitr a few days ago: github.com/yihui/knitr/… ↪

The choice of codename is in remembrance of R Core member Tomàš Kalibera (1978-2026). Among many other things, he was a keen mountain climber. ↪

Michael Friendly (@datavisfriendly.bsky.social; 31/2/7; 2026-04-25): #rstats The idea of a pipe (|) operator goes back to early Unix.
Eg: hist | head -5 to see your most recent commands.
But, where & how did arrive in R #tidyverse thinking and, importantly: in R syntax?
Here’s an interesting post that describes this history.

no root needed, extract anywhere, install multiple R side by side. R 4.6.0 down to 3.0.0, x86_64 + arm64. #rstats ↪
