#RStats challenge and potential community project: * Create a minimal package ‘dumpsterfire’ that triggers as many ‘R CMD check’ issues as possible! Fun, but could also become a excellent resource for illustrating and understanding package check issues Here’s a start: github.com/HenrikBengts…

… and this collection doesn’t even feature each 👀

As usual, the first lesson is available for everyone 🤙

Dirk Eddelbuettel (@eddelbuettel.com; 11/4/0; 2026-06-07): Updated laptop from #Ubuntu 25.10 to 26.04 yesterday while I watched the soccer game. Nice and ‘boring’ engineering excellence: not a single config file to edit, full update was 100% automated, and biggest fun was ~800 #Rstats binaries flying in after “Enabled: yes” was reset for the #r2u repo.

Sharon Machlis (@smachlis.bsky.social; 11/2/0; 2026-06-07): I tested Google’s Gemma 4 12B LLM on writing R code for a bar graph using ggplot2. Criteria: horizontal bars colored steel blue and sorted from high to low, with commas for numbers higher than 1,000 on the axis. This newest Gemma got it right on 3 different attempts. Old gemma-3 12B got 0%. #RStats
