bookdown
New-Cleckit Dominie (@ncdominie.bsky.social; 15/2/0; 2026-06-26): Would accessibility people please stop telling me “just use Bookdown”?
I’m sure Bookdown is very nice and very useful for its purposes, but if you’ve been using proper LaTeX since the 1990s, it’s like going from an organ to a kazoo. ↪
Hugh Pumphrey (@hughpumphrey.bsky.social; 1/1/0; 2026-06-27): Not heard of bookdown until now, but as a long-time player of the LaTeX organ I have no desire to switch to any buzzy alternative. ↪

James A Campbell (@rtbecard.bsky.social; 4/1/3; 2026-06-27): I finally found a nice solution for scaling figures in rmarkdown: Setup a chunk options hook which dynamically sets the out.width, fig.width and fig.height options.
fig.width=7, scale=0.8 now returns a figure 7 in wide, but the contents will be scaled down by a factor of 0.8.

It feels like the benefits of having Claude see my codebase isn’t worth the costs of losing the ability to focus context on a specific area: it’s quite slow, seems to get distracted and outputs incomplete code when hitting context limits.
